From this
point, I started using different pens which
I had found in an antique store in San Diego
during my trip to the States. On the left
is a Waterman Junior filled with Aurora
black ink, and in the center is an English
Waterman 515 (ca. 1947) filled with Havana
brown ink. Both pens have incredibly flexible
nibs. The steel nibs on the Esterbrooks
are great, but there is definitely more
flex and less scratchiness to the 14 carat
gold nibs of these these old Waterman pens.
The pen
on the right is a Pilot brush pen which
I bought here in Tokyo. This is a cartridge
type, but I took a chance and just filled
the barrel with a brown ink wash. So far,
it has not leaked out! I am still using
a Strathmore 3.5" X 5" Premium Recycled
sketchbook.
