Hi, I'm Steve a 47 years young police officer, in Liverpool UK, home of
the Beatles (though they are not my cup of tea)
My interests are many and varied, in fact I seem to find a new one every month.
Those interests that have remained constant over the years include, reading, writing,
generally and poor poetry in particular, drinking to excess and general carousing.
I have always used fountain pens, but in a sort of passive way. I have never
considered collecting, investigating or learning much about them. However in the
last couple of months my interest has blossomed and I have started in the time
honoured tradition of buying everything (pen wise) that isn't nailed down. Having
said that I do not think I will ever become a serious collector of pens. I am
a User and my number one priority with a pen is that it must write well and be
used. For me I suppose using a fountain pen is about being an individual, almost
an eccentric, in today's computer world.
I stumbled across this site and read most of the biographies on the snail
list. It was fascinating and yet strangely poignant when reading those of a couple
of folk who have passed away.
At the moment, my rather eclectic pen collection includes 2 Parker Sonnets
I have had for many years, an Aurora Ipsilon, Aurora Optima, and my divorce pen
a Waterman Edson. I call it that because if my wife ever found out it's cost she
would divorce me ;o) My vintage acquisitions are Waterman Ideal, Sheaffer Craftsman,
Sheaffer Balance, several Sheaffer Lifetimes, and an English Burnham pen. There
would be more, but alas I ran out of funds and am regrouping for this months salary
and a fresh assault on the pen market.
I would be pleased to hear from anyone, young or old, pretty, handsome or
ugly (like me). Any race, religion, colour, or creed, but no racists or bigots
please.
Regards,
Steve.
