Phil Schatz is the father of an eight year old daughter, the husband of a professional flutist, and a lawyer in Manhattan, in that order of priority. He started exploring fountain pens when he couldnGÇÖt read his own notes from a meeting. His great ongoing project is to improve his handwriting, a talent he was not granted in excess. His pen interests include dip pens (particularly NY makers) and Spenserian script, vintage fountain pens (he especially likes flexible early makers, Sheaffer triumph nibs, and 50s /60s industrial design), and some modern pens (Bexley being a maker of special interest). He is trying to learn the rudiments of fountain pen repair. The pens in his permanent collection, until he enters his next manic phase, are: Parker Duofold Centennial (late 80GÇÖs reissue); Parker 75 Silver; Sheaffer Imperial Sterling Silver (with diamond in clip); Dupont Orpheo; Bexley Submariner Grande Aspen; Waterman 52 Red Ripple; dip pens by Aiken Lambert, Mabie Todd, Edward Todd, and H.M. Smith. He is a user; If they donGÇÖt write, he doesnGÇÖt keep them.
