Dr. Marcia Bankirer has been at the forefront of extended learning initiatives throughout her career. She has been instrumental in the development of several alternative/off-campus degree programs and is a strong advocate for using media and technology to engage students in learning. Her background includes 20 years at Colorado State University in progressively responsible positionsGǥ in Extended Learning, 4 years at Iowa State in Extended Learning and the implementation of a statewide fiber network for education delivery, Senior Academic Officer during the implementation of the unique Western Governors University: a cooperative effort of the Governors of 13 states to deliver competency-based learning, Academic Vice President at Jones International University (a private/for profit institution) and Vice President at the University of Denver. In addition, she served as President of the University Continuing Education Association in 1993-94, the youngest person and the fourth woman ever to hold that office. Dr. Bankirer earned her bachelor's degree in biological science at Colorado State University, her master's degree in adult and continuing education at Colorado State University and her doctorate in higher education administration at the University of Wyoming. In July of 2001, Dr. Bankirer was named Vice Provost and Dean of the College of Extended Learning at Central Michigan University. In July of 2004, she became President of Argosy University, Chicago Campus. In May, 2006, she moved to become President of Argosy University's new campus in Denver, CO.

I accumulate fountain pens! I'm not really a collector. I have no themes or any single brand. I have more new than vintage but that's only cause of where I shop! I use what I accumulate. I practice calligraphy and enjoy reading and writing!
I have been married over 30 years..to the same guy! We have one son, adopted at birth, who is now in college. We have one cat and one beloved pug dog.
