My name is Greg McKinney. I am married and have lived in San Diego, CA for the last 5 years. I am originally from San Jose, CA. I have worked in the software and IT business for about 12 years.
I started collecting fountain pens in 1995 after seeing a catalog from FPH. Initially, I collected exclusively modern pens, with a focus on the 800-sized Pelikans- regular and LE.
After a couple years, I began to be attracted to the variety and relative value of vintage pens. I have accumulated a large number of pens, and now focus my attention on early (pre-1935) Waterman, LeBoeuf, Wahl Bantams, Sheaffer Tuckaways and Esterbrook. These days, I probably have 30 vintage pens for every modern one.
I get to a couple pen shows each year, which I think are the best way to combine the pleasures of pens and the people who collect them.
